D <br /> Subject: support for resolution 404 14 0 <br /> Attachments: WPA testimony Res 404 14.pdf <br /> Honorable County Council Chair and Councilmembers, <br /> The Waimea Preservation Association board of directors are pleased and honored to support the above resolution that would provide our <br /> Waimea regional community with a centrally located and well known gathering place as a CERT presence for North Hawai'i. <br /> Waimea Preservation Association(WPA) is the sponsoring non-profit in collaboration with the Historic Spencer House project committee <br /> to preserve a culturally and historic cornerstone structure in the center of town for local families and visitors alike to meet and gain <br /> information important to their heritage,cultural,safety and well-being. <br /> The addition of CERT presence would wholeheartedly enhance public awareness, participation and education necessary for our North <br /> Hawai'i communities to be prepared for any interruption in our quality of life caused by an all-encompassing emergency situation. <br /> Waimea Preservation Association (WPA) is a community-based non-profit organization, started in 1993, dedicated to preserving the <br /> character and history of Waimea and encouraging community awareness in the rich cultural heritage of the Waimea district. In our past, <br /> we have housed the start of such events as Old Hawai'i on Horseback, Real Beef by Real Cowboys, Waimea Main Street and Waimea <br /> Visitor Attraction Program.
