Pursuant to an inter - agency <br />agreement under this grant, the equipment was for use by Deputy Sheriffs in the Kona and Hilo <br />courthouses. Though the equipment has been in the possession of and in use by the Sherriff <br />Division since it was acquired, it has officially belonged to the County of Hawaii and has been <br />recorded on County inventory. The State of Hawaii Department of Public Safety's Sheriff <br />Division has agreed to officially take possession, and thus, responsibility of this equipment. <br />Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii <br />Department of Public Safety to transfer the equipment and indemnify the County from any <br />responsibility from use or ownership of this equipment once transferred.
