No. 325/Bill No. 47 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:43 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation,to which was referred Bill 47, reports <br /> as follows: <br /> Bill 47, transmitted by Council Chairwoman Valerie Poindexter,via Communication 325, dated June 2, <br /> 2017, amends Chapter 15, Article 9, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), <br /> relating to farmers markets. <br /> The bill created a facility schedule for farmers markets and added various parks to that schedule. Public <br /> testimony favored enhanced use of park facilities, implementing the mandate for Local Food for Local <br /> Families, supporting Sustainable Agriculture, encouraging Farm to Table opportunities with parks as <br /> venues. Testimony was received in support for the inclusion of Hakalau Veterans Park and the exclusion <br /> of Pana`ewa Park to the list. The measure was postponed to the July 6th committee meeting. <br /> On July 6th,Bill 47 was amended by the contents of Communication 325.22 submitted by Chairwoman <br /> Poindexter, which created a schedule in Section 15-72 and added Hakalau Veterans Park to it.
