These federally-derived funds of$105,000 <br /> will be used to purchase specialized equipment to enhance the capability of state and <br /> county agencies to prevent and respond to incidents of terrorism and other hazards. <br /> $600,000 has already been appropriated for this grant. <br /> Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating these <br /> additional funds into the Department's State Homeland Security Program FY17 account, <br /> and bringing the total grant appropriation to $705,000. <br /> The Civil Defense Agency requests that this bill be waived from the Finance Committee <br /> and be placed on the November 2, 2017 Council agenda in order to expedite the receipt <br /> of these funds.
