REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY <br /> AND MASS TRANSIT <br /> DATE: May 21, 2018 Re: Comm.No. 928 <br /> PLACE: Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 9:20 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Safety and Mass Transit, to which was referred Communication No. 928, <br /> reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 928, transmitted by Managing Director Wilfred Okabe, dated May 2, 2018, <br /> nominates Allen Salavea of Council District 6 to the Liquor Commission. Mr. Salavea is currently <br /> employed as the Kamehameha Schools Land Use and Entitlement Manager. Prior to his employment <br /> with the Kamehameha Schools, Mr. Salavea worked as a Planner with the County of Hawai`i's Planning <br /> Department for approximately four years. <br /> Mr. Salavea holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and a certificate in Environmental Planning <br /> from the University of Hawai`i at Hilo and served six years in the United States Air Force, where he was <br /> honorably discharged. He has lived in Hawai`i for approximately 25 years and states he is not affiliated <br /> with any political party; if confirmed, he will serve a term ending December 31, 2022. <br /> Mr. Salavea was present in the Hilo Council Chambers, and several Council Members spoke in support <br /> of his appointment to the Liquor Commission, and also spoke well of his community service.
