These new positions are needed to <br /> ensure the safety of beach patrons at Hapuna State Park and are funded through a state <br /> grant. The County has been contracted to provide lifeguards at this state park since 2007 <br /> and while there has been a steady increase in the number of visitors to Hapuna State Park <br /> since the County entered this contract,the number of lifeguards provided has not <br /> increased.
