Operating Budget <br /> Enclosed is a resolution to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department <br /> of Laborand Industrial Relations in order to receive their Workforce Innovation and <br /> Opportunity Act(WIOA) grant. <br /> Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating <br /> $1,090,000 into the Office of Housing and Community Development's Workforce <br /> Innovation and Opportunity Act(WIOA)program accounts. This appropriation reflects <br /> funding allocations received from the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations for <br /> the Program Year(PY) 2020. No County General Funds are involved. The bill sets up <br /> the proper accounts to receive and expend the WIOA funds. <br /> The Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) indicates that the funds <br /> will be utilized to assist adults, dislocated workers and youth by providing services that <br /> will train individuals to increase employment, retention, earnings, skills and literacy. <br /> This will improve the quality of the workforce, reducing welfare dependency and <br /> enhancing the productivity and competitiveness of the local economy. <br /> If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Christine Nguyen of the Office of <br /> Housing and Community Development at 961-8379. <br /> Deanna,S.
