HAWAVI POLICE COMMISSION <br />REGULAR SESSION MINUTES <br />OCTOBER 22, 2010 <br />OLD MAYOR'S KONA OFFICE CONFERENCE ROOM <br />INVOCATION <br />Commissioner Sumja gave an invocation. <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chair Whittemore called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Present: Tom Whittemore, Chair <br />Kenneth T. Ono, Commissioner <br />T. Ka`ili Pe`a- Ferrari, Commissioner <br />Michael B. Sumja, Commissioner <br />Leroy J. Victorine, Commissioner <br />Also Present: Paul K. Ferreira, Deputy Police Chief <br />Derek Pacheco, Assistant Chief <br />Henry Tavares, Assistant Chief <br />James O'Connor, Captain <br />Lincoln S. Ashida, Corporation Counsel <br />Josie Pelayo, Secretary <br />Absent: Carol R. Ignacio, Commissioner <br />Michelle L. Kualii, Commissioner <br />Donn S. Mende, Commissioner <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />Commissioner Ono moved to approve the agenda. Commissioner Sumja seconded, and <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS <br />EDDIE CORDEIRO (Correspondence 2010 -11) stated that he has respect for everyone <br />there expect for the police officers. He went to court twice and won his case. After the <br />Police Commission's meeting in Hilo, he was stopped for his blue license plate cover. <br />Police officers use tinted license plate covers. He showed a tinted gray cover that police <br />officers use. He won about using the blue tinted cover. The officer who stopped him was <br />really nice, but not Sergeant Koi. Randy also gave him attitude. There area lot of officers <br />with attitude. He got a letter from the Chief that they do monthly and annual inspections. <br />The Chief said he would talk to his supervisors. He asked if he can put his license plate <br />cover back. The first time he won in court he asked the lady if he could put his license <br />plate cover back on, she said, "I guess." So he put it back on but got a ticket again. He <br />will give it a month, and if he sees officers with covers, he will go to the newspaper. <br />
