HAWAII POLICE COMMISSION <br />REGULAR SESSION MINUTES <br />JULY 15, 2016 <br />WEST HAWAII CIVIC CENTER, BUILDING G CONFERENCE ROOM <br />74-5044 ANE KEOHOKALOLE HIGHWAY, KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Vice Chair Morioka called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Present: Keith Morioka, Vice Chair <br />Arthur Buckman, Commissioner <br />Robert Gomes, Sr., Commissioner <br />Peter Hendricks, Commissioner <br />Jak Hu, Commissioner <br />Absent: Guy Schutte, Chair <br />A quorum was present. <br />Also present: <br />Harry Kubojiri, Police Chief <br />Paul Ferreira, Deputy Chief <br />Henry Tavares, Assistant Chief <br />Mitchell Kanehailua, Major <br />Danny Patel, Deputy Corporation Counsel <br />Josie Pelayo, Secretary <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />Commissioner Gomes motioned to approve the agenda. Commissioner Hendricks <br />seconded, and it carried unanimously. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS (None.) <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />• June 17, 2016, regular session: Commissioner Hendricks motioned to approve the <br />minutes. Commissioner Gomes seconded, and it carried unanimously. <br />• June 17, 2016, executive session: Commissioner Hendricks motioned to approve the <br />minutes. Commissioner Buckman seconded, and it carried unanimously. <br />POLICE CHIEF'S REPORT ON DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES <br />(Written reports were summaries.) <br />• Crime Report: Assistant Chief Tavares reported that up through June 30, there were <br />8,363 serious crimes, of which 1,962 were investigated by the Criminal Investigation <br />Units. For the month of June, they had 8,527 calls for service. Hilo had a slight <br />increase in robberies, and Kona had a decrease. Ka'u had an increase in property <br />
