<br /> <br />KAILUA VILLAGE DESIGN COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br />MINUTES <br />Meeting Date: January 23, 2018 <br />Time: 5:15 p.m. <br />Place: West Hawai‘i Civic Center <br />nd <br /> Planning Department Conference Room – Building E, 2 Floor <br /> 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i, 96740 <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Commissioners Present: Peter Dahlberg, Shaun Roth, Zon Sullenberger, Michaela Ikeuchi, <br />John Hetherington, Mark Van Pernis, Ann Kern, and Bryant <br />Ching. <br />Absent and Excused: Jasmine Crusat <br />Planning Department: Terry Dunlap (Planner) Deanne Bugado (Planner), and Rosalind <br />Newlon (Planner/recorder) <br />Applicants/Representatives: Fritz Harris-Glade, Architect/applicant <br />A quorum was present, Chairman Peter Dahlberg called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. and the <br />Commissioners introduced themselves. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Minutes of the Meetings of December 19, 2017 & January 9, 2018 <br />The minutes of meeting of January 9, 2018 were not distributed and at the request of the <br />Secretary the minutes were requested to be deferred. <br />Chairman Dahlberg asked if there were any corrections to the minutes. One correction was <br />offered to the minutes of December 19, 2017, on page 2, paragraph 2, to correct that it was <br />Commissioner Roth serving as Chair, and the minutes of the meetings of December 19, 2017 <br />were approved as amended. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS <br />There was no one from the public who wished to testify on any items on the agenda at this time. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />1. The applicant, Fritz Harris Glade, AIA, is proposing a free standing three (3) story elevator <br />addition to the Holiday Inn Express & Suites located on Sarona Road in Kailua-Kona, The <br />Holiday Inn Express & Suites was originally approved at the March 8, 2011 meeting of <br />Kailua Village Design Commission. The elevator is proposed between the westerly parking <br />lot and the swimming pool on the south side of the closest portion of the building next to <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
