KAILUA VILLAGE DESIGN COMMISSION <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI'I <br /> (MINUTES) <br /> Meeting Date: December 8, 2020 <br /> Time: 5:16 pm <br /> Place: Live Stream Meeting (Online) <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Commissioners Present: Shaun Roth, Arne Werchick, John Hetherington, Jasmine Crusat <br /> Michaela Ikeuchi, Riley Smith, Zon Sullenberger, Ann Kern, <br /> Bryant Ching <br /> Planning Department: Zendo Kern (Planning Director), Rosalind Newlon (Planner), Terri <br /> Napeahi (Planner), Bennett Mark(Program Manager) <br /> Applicants/Representatives: Anna White (Papa Kona Coffee) <br /> Roger & Linda Clark <br /> Ray S. Pieri (Kona Reef, Inc.) <br /> A quorum was present. Chairman Roth called the meeting to order. Chairman Roth stated that <br /> based on the Mayor's proclamation regarding COVID-19, these meetings will be on line until <br /> further notice. This is to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to also maintain social distancing. <br /> Normally commissioners introduce themselves, however since the meeting was online Chairman <br /> Roth read the names as they appeared from a list of those present on the Cisco Webex monitor. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> Chairman Roth—Minutes November 24, 2020 were distributed and the Chairman Roth asked if <br /> there were any corrections. No corrections offered, and the minutes were approved as circulated. <br /> STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS <br /> Chairman Roth asked if there were any Public Testimony to be presented and Rosalind Newlon <br /> (Staff) answered none. No statements from the Public. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> 1. The applicant Anna White of Papa Kona Coffee and Events LLC,is proposing non- <br /> structural repairs and modifications to the interior and exterior of the Papa Kona <br /> restaurant located at Waterfront Row on Alii Drive. The exterior changes for <br /> design review include, 1) removing the existing wood casing (cladding) and exposing <br /> existing structure and glass, and replacing the bi-fold doors with double swing <br /> doors, that face the outside seating area on the main floor, and; 2)painting the <br /> gypsum board between the brace members on the counter portion of the wall of the <br /> facing bar seating area on the second floor. <br /> Landowner: Watumull Properties Corp. <br /> TMK: (3) 7-5-008:009 <br /> 1 <br />
