<br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br />MINUTES <br />SEPTEMBER 7, 2006 <br />The Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:05 a.m. in the County of Hawaii, <br />Aupuni Center Conference Room, 101 Pauahi Street, Hilo, Hawaii, with Chairman C. <br />Kimo Alameda presiding. <br />PRESENT:C. Kimo AlamedaABSENT & EXCUSED: Fred Galdones <br />Andrew IwashitaBill Graham <br />Jeffrey McCallRodney Watanabe <br />Alvin Rho <br />Allen Salavea <br />Rene’ Siracusa <br />Ivan Torigoe, Deputy Corporation Counsel <br />Brad Kurokawa, Deputy Planning Director (from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) <br />Norman Hayashi, Planning Program Manager <br />Phyllis Fujimoto, Staff Planner <br />Jeff Darrow, Staff Planner <br />The Chair introduced the Commissioners and staff to members of the public. <br />ORD. 96-81The Commission took this item up at 9:10 a.m. with <br />JON MITSUDA approximately 18 people from the public in attendance. <br />WAIAKEA, <br />SOUTH HILO <br />APPLICANT: JON MITSUDA (ORD. 96 81) <br />Request to repeal Ordinance No. 96 81, which reclassified approximately 1.952 acres <br />from an Agricultural 3-acre (A-3a) to a Single-Family Residential 10,000 square feet <br />(RS-10) district. The property is located at the west end of Ahe Street, adjacent to the <br />Hoomalu Street Subdivision, Waiakea, South Hilo, Hawaii, TMK: 2-4-8: 15 <br />(formerly 2-4-3: portion of 4). <br />Mr. Hayashi gave some background information. He said the applicant requested the <br />Commission proceed with this matter even though he will be unable to attend today’s <br />meeting as he does not intend to go ahead with the project proposed by the previous <br />owner, Gilbert Kudo. <br />In response to Commissioner Siracusa’s inquiry, Mr. Hayashi clarified that conditions in <br />an ordinance do not have to be complied with if the ordinance is repealed. <br />There was no one from the public wishing to testify on this application. <br />1 <br /> <br />
