<br />North Kohala Access Group Minutes <br />Meeting Notes <br />April 4, 2012 (Old Courthouse 4:30pm) <br />Participants <br />: Jack Hoyt, Beth Robinson, Toni Withington, Jake Polvi, Dennis Camblin, Ralph <br />Galan, Aric Arakaki, Keone MacKillop, Ted Matsuda <br />Hapu'u - Kapanaia <br />Vipassana Hawaii is working with Hawaii Islands Lands Trust. <br /> <br />They will entertain all options to preserving some of these lands. <br />¶ <br />oPrivate purchase <br />oPublic purchase <br />oLandowner easements: <br />Conservation easements <br />Agricultural easements <br />Historic preservation <br />Kauhola Lighthouse <br />The State Legacy Land Commission has made their share of payment to the <br /> <br />escrow company and should close soon. <br />A celebration is being planned for sometime in June 2012. <br />¶ <br />Ainakea <br />Lateral access is about to be recorded with the county. <br /> <br />Pahoa (Honomakau) <br />The Mauka-Makai and lateral access needs to be worked out with the landowners <br /> <br />and the county because the owners will be coming to the PD for boundary <br />changes. <br />Upolu Airport - East end of the runway <br />Nothing new to report. <br /> <br />Upolu Airport Area Restoration <br />The right of entry by the state is held up right now. <br /> <br />The right of entry by the Ala Kahakai National Park Service is pending but will <br /> <br />not hold up Kohala Lihikai restoration project. <br />The educational programs can be started. <br /> <br />There will be adult volunteers and student programs. <br />¶ <br />We'll have a GPS mapping session. <br />¶ <br />Ala Kaha Kai NPS is working on a cooperative agreement. <br /> <br />This could provide a funding tool, <br />¶ <br />Coast Guard Road <br />The County of Hawaii will take control of the Old Coast Guard Road <br /> <br />It is from Akoni Pule Highway to the Mookini Road (above the Old Coast <br />¶ <br />Guard property). <br />A resolution passed County Council to purchase a key section just above <br />¶ <br />the old Coast Guard Station. <br />1 of 2 <br /> <br />
