<br />North Kohala Community Access Group <br />Meeting Notes <br />January 8, 2014 (Old Courthouse 4:30pm) <br />Participants: Toni Withington, Carter Collins, Jack Hoyt, Susan Fischer, Charlie Anderson, Keith <br />Wallis, Aric Arakaki, Ralph Galan, Joe Carvalho, Ted Matsuda. <br />Akoakoa Point (Bird Cave) <br />Joe will arrange with Aldridge a walk thru sometime this month. <br />Hapu'u – Kapanaia <br />This corridor is #3 on the PONC list for public purchase and will be nominated to the Land <br />Legacy Commission this year as an option to get matching funds for public purchase. <br />There are 4 land owners with 7 parcels <br />Pacific Plains, Misty Kai, Charlie and Lisa Anderson, Hon Family Trust. <br />· <br />We should ask the County Council to move a resolution to purchase these parcels. <br />There are 3 parcels on the Anderson property that are listed for public purchase. <br />The one with 22 acres contains the Hale O' Kaiili Heiau site and is most important to <br />· <br />preserve. <br />Halelua <br />Ted will follow up with Fred Cachola to contact the State Historic Preservation to peruse <br />marking of Ohau Heiau on the ground. <br />Kauhola Lighthouse <br />There was a clean-up of the area in December <br />Jeff Coakley is organizing an ocean resource conservation group <br />Upolu Airport - East end of the runway <br />The NK CDP Action committee sent a letter of recommendation on the access plan to the <br />Planning Director. <br />The landowners proposed this access plan because the 2002 settlement with the county and <br />previous landowner Surety is in the middle of the property that is seldom used as opposed to <br />this one. <br />The landowners (EWM) will go back to the original access plan of the 2002 settlement if <br />the community doesn’t want this new access plan. <br />We need to see the access agreement with other clubs and landowners. <br />Kaiholena Lot F <br />Purchase Contract sent to Ala Kahakai Trail Assn. from EWM. <br /> ATA VP Alan Brown currently reviewing the contract <br />The Ala Kahakai Trail association is still pursuing final funding for public purchase. <br />Kiiokalani Ahupua'a (Black Point) <br />Some people of the community and the access group did a walk thru with the landowner and <br />planning department personnel. <br />The new home is 15' above the mauka edge of the Ala Loa (Jeep road). <br />We should write a letter of recommendation to accept this access plan. <br /> <br /> <br />
