North Kohala Community Access Group Meeting Notes February 3, 2016 (Old Courthouse 4:30pm) Participants: David Tarnas, Beth Robinson, Rick Gmirkin, Toni Withington, Carter Collins, Keoni Mackillop, Joe Carvalho, Ted Matsuda. ❖ Akoakoa Point (Bird Cave) ➢ NSTR ❖ Hapu'u — Kapanai'a ➢ We should meet with the Mayor on PONC purchase of this area. ■ The Hapu'u to Kapanaia corridor is 41 on the PONC list. o Within the three projects of the Kamehameha homeland there are 10 parcels with 6 landowners & 4 of them are ready to sell. ■ Ted will try to arrange meeting with the Mayor. •'• Halelua • ➢ This area is 42 on the PONC list. ■ Niuli'i, with two parcels is #3. ••• Kauhola Point • ➢ NSTR •'• Pahoa Beach • ➢ We need an update from the county Planning Department. ❖ Upolu Airport - East ➢ We need an update from the county Planning Department. ■ Ted should call Bobby Command of the planning department and find out who is in charge of public access. ❖ Upolu Airport - Restoration ➢ We can schedule Kohala High School students to do a report on the soil erosion project at our next meeting. ■ They are working with Gail Byrne of Malama Kohala Kahakai). ❖ Puakea Bay Ranch Trail ➢ Na Ala Hele advisory council's next meeting on February 23, 2016 in Hilo ➢ Puakea Bay trial is on the agenda ■ We'll ask the council to postpone discussion of the Puakea Trail so we can make a presentation on the trail & its status at the next meeting in Waimea. ❖ Latitude 20 (Lamaloloa) ■ NSTR ❖ Kaiholena Lot F ➢ A meeting should be scheduled to plan a celebration. ➢ PONC representatives did an inspection of Kaiholena & the Pao'o area, and found all areas immaculate. ➢ HILT representatives and Ala Kahakai Trail Association will be doing a Talk Story and hike of this property on February 27th and March 5.
