Chair Dahlberg called the meeting to order and the Commissioners <br />introduced themselves. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />1. Minutes of the Meeting of July 19, 2016 <br /> <br />It was moved by Commissioner Roth and seconded by Commissioner Sullenberger that the minutes <br /> <br />be approved as submitted. The motion was unanimously carried by a voice vote. <br /> <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS <br /> – None. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> <br />1.A sign permit application for two (2) wall signs and one (1) projecting sign for “Gertrude’s <br />Jazz Bar.” Applicant: Kira Kamāmalu. Landowner: Damien Wong. TMK: 7-5-006: 010. <br />Location: Second floor of 75-5699 Ali‘i Drive, Kailua-Kona (West side of the block created <br />by the intersection of Ali‘i Drive and Likana Lane across from the ABC store.) <br /> <br />Mr. Dunlap familiarized the Commissioners with the property on a map, and described the proposed <br />signs. He distributed a copy of the relevant section of the Sign Code to the Commissioners. He said <br />that according to a sign permit application reviewer of the Department of Public Works, Building <br />Division, the proposed signs were acceptable; however, if the Commission found the proposed signs <br />to be inconsistent with the Sign Code, it was within the Commission’s purview to point that out in its <br />recommendation, which might include a requirement for a variance. <br />1 <br /> <br />
