Updated 3/2/18 <br />Puna CDP 2017-18 Priorities <br />Priority #1— ViIIage/Town Centers <br />Comm. No. 2018-05 <br />The creation of Village/Town Centers is vital to the implementation of the PCDP. Section 3.1 of the PCDP <br />speaks to the land use pattern of Puna and the need to create village/town centers as the preferred strategy <br />for providing Puna residents with greater access to goods, services, educational resources and economic <br />opportunities in a thoughtful and sustainable manner. The goal and action item 3.1.2d and 3.1.3d call for the <br />creation of village/town centers and associated "village plans" to guide the development of these centers. <br />OBJECTIVE 3.1.2D <br />Create new village/town centers as necessary, in or near presently underserved subdivision, beginning with <br />those experiencing higher rates of population growth so residents of those areas will have community <br />activities and more convenient access to services. <br />drTlnN R 9 Rn <br />Facilitate land use entitlements and financing for the development of new village/town centers by: <br />1) Creating a regional town center plan for each village/town area as prescribed in Section 5.2.1; <br />2) Providing loan guarantees or making grants to community associations or partnerships for the <br />development of necessary infrastructure for the village/town center. <br />Current Status: Design guidelines adopted, special district created, PVDRC formed.
