<br />LEEWARD PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br /> <br />HEARING TRANSCRIPT <br />SEPTEMBER 26, 2013 <br /> <br />HUALALAI PARTNERS OF KONA, LLC <br />A regularly advertised hearing on the applications of <br />(SLU-13-038/REZ-13-164) <br /> was called to order at 10:15 a.m. in the West Hawai‘i Civic Center, <br />Community Center, Building G, 74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Highway, Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i, with <br /> <br />Vice Chair Brandi Beaudet presiding. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Geraldine Giffin, Brandi Beaudet, Thomas Hickcox, <br />Richard Nelson, III, Barbara Nobriga and Thomas Whittemore <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Bobby Command (Deputy Planning Director), Margaret Masunaga (Deputy <br />Corporation Counsel), Daryn Arai (Planning Program Manager), Jeff Darrow (Planner), <br />Kiran Emler (Department of Public Works, Engineering Division) and Noriko Sauer (Commission <br />Secretary) <br /> <br />And approximately 30 people from the public in attendance. <br /> <br />APPLICANT: HUALALAI PARTNERS OF KONA, LLC (SLU-13-038/REZ-13-164) <br /> <br />Applications for a State Land Use Boundary Amendment from Agricultural to Urban and a Change <br />of Zone from Agricultural 5-acres (A-5a) to Single-Family Residential-15,000 square feet (RS-15) <br />for approximately 14.968 acres of land. The property is located southwest of the intersection of <br />nd <br />Kahului-Hienaloli Road and Hualālai Road, north of the Sugar Cane Lane Subdivision, Kahului 2, <br />North Kona, Hawai‘i, TMK: 7-5-017:043. <br /> <br />GIFFIN: We are on Agenda Item No. 2. Hualalai Partners of Kona, LLC is requesting both a state <br />land use boundary amendment, in its application, SLU 13-038, and also a change of zone <br />application, REZ 13-164. Before we get into this <br />particular agenda item, it occurred to us that you have before you the minutes of the July 18 <br />hearing, which also considered this particular, these applications. So we think maybe procedurally <br />it’s best if you act on your minutes to adopt them, and once adopted, then those minutes become <br />official, and then we can incorporate -. <br /> <br />GIFFIN: Part of the record. <br /> <br />ARAI: Right, right, right.
