<br />LEEWARD PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />DECEMBER 18, 2014 <br /> <br />The Leeward Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:30 a.m. in the West Hawai‘i Civic <br />Center, Community Center, Building G, 74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Highway, Kailua-Kona, <br />Hawai‘i, with Chairman Brandi Beaudet presiding. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Brandi Beaudet, Thomas Hickcox, Collin Kaholo, <br />Barbara Nobriga, Keith Unger and Thomas Whittemore <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Duane Kanuha (Planning Director), Danny Patel (Deputy Corporation Counsel), <br />Daryn Arai (Planning Program Manager), Jeff Darrow (Planner), Maija Jackson (Planner) and <br />Noriko Sauer (Commission Secretary) <br /> <br />And seven people from the public in attendance. <br /> <br />A quorum was present. Chair Beaudet called the meeting to order, and introduced the <br />Commissioners and staff to members of the public. He also described the procedure for public <br />testimony. <br /> <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC – No statements were presented under this section of the <br />agenda. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />INITIATOR: COUNTY COUNCIL (Bill No. 281) <br />County Council Bill No. 281 amending Chapter 25, Article 6, Division 1 and Article 5 of the <br />Hawai‛i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended) relating to Planned Unit Development <br />(P.U.D.). The purpose of these proposed amendments is to require review and approval of a P.U.D. <br />by that Planning Commission that holds jurisdiction over that area containing the property for <br />which the application is sought. <br /> <br />The Commission took up this item at 9:32 a.m. with nine people from the public in attendance. <br /> <br />(SEE EXHIBIT A) <br /> <br />MINUTES – The Commission took up the following minutes at 10:05 a.m.: <br /> <br />November 20, 2014 – It was moved by Commissioner Hickcox and seconded by Commissioner <br />Whittemore that the minutes be approved as submitted. The motion was unanimously carried by a <br />voice vote of all Commissioners. <br /> <br />ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS – The Commission took up the following matters at 10:06 a.m.: <br /> <br /> <br />1.Status of applications heard by Leeward Planning Commission that are pending before <br />County Council. – With respect to the Planning Director initiated amendment to the Zoning <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
