Provide educational opportunities through partnerships to aid in future sustainability of resources for the Puna community. 2. Provide an informational platform for visitors to learn about the history of the area and best practices for the area's environmental wellness. 3. Collect data and analyze environmental resources of the Pohoiki area. Review of H 's objectives, as presented in its business plan, project description and budget details informed the following assessments: 1. Objective#1 does not appear to qualify under any of the presumptive criteria. While we understand that education is a key component in the successful preservation of PONC resources, it is unclear in NMHOW's project description how this objective relates directly to the maintenance of Pohoiki. It appears that this objective is intending to develop and implement a use of the POMC land for purposes extending beyond this specific site as opposed to truly being a stewardship activity for Pohoiki. 2. Objective#2 appears to qualify under criterion (2). 3. Objective#3 appears to qualify under criteria (3) and (16). Given the above, with the exception of Objective#1 as discussed above, it is my recommendation that Na Maka Haloa O Waipi'o will be able to complete its project in accordance with the project description submitted, and in strict adherence to the conditions governing the POMC Maintenance Fund.
