REQUEST: <br /> Pursuant to the Hawaii County Code section 2-139(a)(3)(A), Council approval is requested for a grant award <br /> of$75,000 to East Hawaii Cultural Council, a 501{c)(3) organization. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDEDI: <br /> National Endowment for the Arts has awarded funds to the County of Hawaii Department of Parks and <br /> Recreation for the Transforming Trash, Repurposing Plastics to Enhance Public Parkscapes & Revitalize <br /> Communities project. <br /> The Department of Parks and Recreation would like to provide a $75,000 grant to East Hawaii Cultural <br /> Council, The County of Hawaii and East Hawaii Cultural Council will collaboratively work with Hawaii island <br /> communities to divert plastics from our landfills and beaches, and utilize technology to turn plastics into <br /> functional art. The artwork will be installed in our County parks.
