"10.10.1.1 Open Fires. <br /> (1) Planned fires for the cooking of food. Persons responsible for such fires not <br /> contained within an appliance, such as an imu or smoke house, shall <br /> telephone the fire dispatch center on the non-emergency number at least 15 <br /> minutes prior to lighting such fires. <br /> (2) Fires for recreational, decorative, ceremonial or other purposes shall comply <br /> with the following: <br /> (a) Obtain written permission from the property owner. <br /> (b) Submit a letter and site plan to the AHJ for approval at least 14 days <br /> prior to the event, that include the: <br /> (i) Contact information of the person(s) responsible; <br /> (ii) Location or address of the burn site(s); <br /> (iii) Date and time of ignition; and <br /> (iv) Distances from the burn area to spectators, structures, and <br /> vehicles. <br /> (c) Event site shall be subject to inspection. <br /> (d) Persons responsible shall telephone the Fire Dispatch Center on the <br /> non-emergency number at least 15 minutes prior to lighting such fires. <br /> (e) Open fire performances before a proximate audience and open fires <br /> for recreational, decorative, or ceremonial purposes such as the <br /> "lighting of the letters" shall comply with the most current version of <br /> NFPA 160." <br /> [2018 HSFC: 301 <br /> (30) Open flames, candles, open fires, and incinerators hazardous <br /> conditions. Section 10.10.2 is amended to read as follows: <br /> i <br /> "10.10.2 The AHJ shall have the authority to prohibit or regulate any or all open <br /> flames, candles, and open, recreational, and cooking fires or other sources of <br /> ignition, or establish special regulations on the use of any form of fire or smoking <br /> material where circumstances make such conditions hazardous. Open flame <br /> devices utilizing gas or liquid fuel, such as but not limited to tiki torches, shall <br /> keep a minimum of three feet clearance from the flame to combustibles, and <br /> shall maintain a vertical height of seven feet from grade to flame.
