Mayor transmitted a bill designating the whole island as a safe
place. Includes areas around children.
3
At the rulemaking hearing with HNL police department, what they are ok with is
3
schools, legislators, polling places. Curious what the compromise is on Hawaii
I
island.
f
3
pp
f
Short term rentals, Bill 41, defined as anything less than 90 days. Judge Watson
granted injunction. Mayor plans to fight it. Rentals from 30-89 are still residential
and we cannot stop them from doing that.
Bill 10, our land use ordinance, re-writing Chapter 25, 270 page bill with lots of
definitions. Weddings on agricultural land, our attorney said that the HRS defines
agricultural uses, and counties can be more prescriptive and limit but cannot
expand. In the HRS, weddings are not in the definition unless you get a special
permit. Wondering how other counties have dealt with that.
CM Kimball: Continuing to negotiate the safe places, do like places that are going to
allow conceal-carry must put up a sign allowing guns.
HRS states 180 days is transient accommodations, put in an exemption if there is a
landlord-tenant agreement then it is exempt. We already do it for 180 days for tax
purposes. If you are managing more than one property you are required to have a
real estate license.
CMKing:Like the idea of businesses providing notice on when they allow guns.
c. NACo Report
CM Waters: Great to have the NACo representatives attend the conference, very well
attended with four former Presidents.
d. WIR Report
CM Sinenci: Looking into working with other states for a parks stewardship
program.
