Legislative Update:HB118 has gone to the Governor for signature. <br /> f. Legislative Update <br /> Jon Okudara: The HSAC legislative package four bills and a concurrent resolution: <br /> HB 115 Relating to Employees'Retirement System. <br /> SB 206 Relating to the Employees'Retirement System. <br /> Proposed to repeal the minimum age requirement for individuals who become an ERS <br /> member after 6/30/2012, and who have at least 25 years of credited service. <br /> Outcome: SB 1158 which became the vehicle for the retirement proposal provided that <br /> police officers who become members of the ERS after 6/30/2023 with retirement benefits <br /> similar to those provided for members of the ERS who became members before 7/1/2012, <br /> including but not limited to calculation of retirement allowance, minimum age or years of <br /> credited service requirements, and vesting period Allowed retired police officers hired <br /> after 6/30/01 to be treated as if employment began before 7/1/01 in order to maintain <br /> spousal health benefits. Establishes retirement allowance for a county police officer <br /> becoming a member after June 30, 2023, who is age 55, with 5 years service and 25 <br /> years of service. <br /> HB116 Relating to Special Management Areas. <br /> SB207 Relating to Special Management Areas. <br /> Proposed to amend the exclusions from the definition of "development" in special <br /> management areas to lower the square foot exemption of single family residences in the <br /> SMA to allow the county planning authority to review more residential development in <br /> the special management area for conformance with the development guidelines for the <br /> area. <br /> Outcome: HB 365, Relating to Special Management Areas, which became the vehicle for <br /> the SMA proposal, was passed by the Legislature. It initially contained the HSAC <br /> proposal that lowered the square foot exemption for single family residences in the SMA, <br /> which was deleted by the House Committee on Water and Land <br />
