REQUEST: <br /> The Office of Housing and Community Development(OHCD) is requesting to amend Ordinance 23-50 <br /> by appropriating the following: <br /> Revenue: <br /> Federal -2023 Emergency Proclamation Homeless Programs 152.3310.XX $2,000,000.00 <br /> Expenditure: <br /> 2023 Emergency Proclamation Homeless Programs - Program 152.461.5466.XX $ 1,900,000.00 <br /> 2023 Emergency Proclamation Homeless Programs-Admin 152.461.5466.XX $ 100,000.00 <br /> The appropriation request for$ 2,000,000.00 represents funding for the implementation of a homeless <br /> shelter program in East Hawai'i. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The State of Hawaii, Department of Human Services is providing the County of Hawaii through the <br /> Office of Housing and Community Development funding to provide funding to support the <br /> implementation and on-going operational support of a new homeless shelter program. <br /> This initiative is designed to provide a safe and dignified haven for individuals experiencing <br /> homelessness in our community. The funding will be used to cover essential expenses such as staffing, <br /> facility maintenance, meals, and support services that are crucial for the well-being and rehabilitation of <br /> our most vulnerable community members.
