According to §2-136, "public purpose" is defined as a benefit to, improvement of, or promotion of the interests in the following areas. OUTCOME MEASUREMENTS: -Goal 1: At least 10 public trainings held -Goal 2: At least 20 participants per training -Goal 3: At least 90% of trainees report learning something new and useful -Goal 4: At least 95% of trainees would recommend the training to others SUPPLEMENTAL: Challenges and opportunities facing Hawai'i Island include: recovering from the coronavirus pandemic, preventing eviction and homelessness, high cost of living and doing business, renewable energies, natural disasters, and land use. Some of these challenges/opportunities are centered on contentious issues, like astronomy on Mauna Kea. Well -trained local leaders and citizens --with dynamic and innovative ways to respond to difficult dialogues, disagreements, and disputes --support a stronger Hawaii County community and economy. Our agency helps individuals, families, schools, organizations, businesses, and others in Hawai'i County to find creative solutions to challenging situations. In the area of education, we have a multi -year track record of both developing and implementing successful in-house trainings, community workshops, and professional development seminars. These educational programs have attracted island -wide and repeat participation from the private, public, and non-profit sectors. In the past 13 years, we have conducted over 500 educational programs for adults and youth.
