* 52. Please upload a completed CRF Grant Budget Form.
2025-2026 CRF District 5 Budget Form.xlsx
Public Purpose of Requested Funds
Per §2-138 of the Hawai'i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), the County may grant an award only if the
proposed program or service provides direct public benefits and fulfills a public purpose within the County.
53. According to §2-136, "public purpose" is defined as a benefit to, improvement of, or promotion of the
interests in the following areas. Please select all the public benefits to be derived from your County fund request:
Educational concerns
Needs of the poor, youth, the aged, those with physical or emotional disabilities
Public health and welfare of the people and the environment
Victims of crimes
Victims of health or social crises
* 54. In 2,000 characters or less, describe the measurable outcomes you aim to achieve with these funds.
OUTCOME MEASUREMENTS: -Goal 1: At least 10 public trainings held -Goal 2: At least 20 participants per training -Goal 3:
At least 90% of trainees report learning something new and useful -Goal 4: At least 95% of trainees would recommend the
training to others SUPPLEMENTAL: Challenges and opportunities facing Hawai'i Island include: recovering from the
coronavirus pandemic, preventing eviction and homelessness, high cost of living and doing business, renewable energies,
natural disasters, and land use. Some of these challenges/opportunities are centered on contentious issues, like astronomy
on Mauna Kea. Well -trained local leaders and citizens --with dynamic and innovative ways to respond to difficult dialogues,
disagreements, and disputes --support a stronger Hawaii County community and economy. Our agency helps individuals,
families, schools, organizations, businesses, and others in Hawai'i County to find creative solutions to challenging situations.
In the area of education, we have a multi -year track record of both developing and implementing successful in-house
trainings, community workshops, and professional development seminars. These educational programs have attracted
island -wide and repeat participation from the private, public, and non-profit sectors. In the past 13 years, we have
conducted over 500 educational programs for adults and youth. TRAINING TESTIMONIAL: "I'm already using the skills
gained from the Basic Mediation Training in my one-to-one conversations with students in crisis or helping students resolve
conflicts with faculty, staff, and/or other students. The Division of Student Affairs is already seeing a return on the
investment. These skills are so incredible and valuable!"
