g) (To permit personnel of DOFAW to attend firefighting and other <br />appropriate training classes and to use its training facilities on a space - <br />available basis without cost to the State. Personnel attending such classes <br />shall be deemed to have assumed such risks as may be normally incident <br />hereto. <br />13) That it is further mutually agreed that; <br />a) The permanent State license plate will continue to be used on State <br />loaned vehicles and equipment; and <br />b) The loaned vehicles and equipment will be marked in a manner that will <br />indicate the cooperation between HFD and DOFAW. <br />14) Finally let it be mutually agreed that: <br />a) Pursuant to Hawai`i's membership in the Northwest Wildland Fire <br />Protection Agreement ("Northwest Compact"), the parties recognize that <br />DOFAW may be requested to send personnel and equipment beyond state <br />borders to assist in wildland fire response under Compact authority. <br />b) HFD personnel and resources may, at the discretion of the Fire Chief and <br />in coordination with DOFAW, be assigned to support DOFAW <br />deployments under the Northwest Compact. <br />c) Such assignments shall be voluntary and subject to HFD operational <br />availability. DOFAW shall coordinate with the Compact and ensure <br />appropriate incident action plans, logistical arrangements, and <br />reimbursement protocols are in place. <br />d) Reimbursement for travel, lodging, meals, and incidental expenses shall <br />follow Compact provisions and be coordinated through DOFAW. HFD <br />shall remain responsible for regular salaries and benefits unless otherwise <br />agreed in writing. <br />e) Liability, insurance, and injury provisions of Sections 9 and 10 apply to <br />such deployments. Each agency shall maintain responsibility for its own <br />personnel. <br />15) Term and Termination: This Agreement shall remain in effect until terminated by <br />either party with thirty (30).days written notice. <br />
