Arakaki, Chairman <br /> <br /> and Members of the County Council <br /> <br /> Page 6 <br /> HOUSING <br /> * Attain safe, sanitary, and livable housing for the residents of the County of <br /> Hawan <br /> * Attain a diversity of socto-economic housing mix throughout the different parts <br /> of the County <br /> * Maintain a housing supply which allows a variety of choke <br /> * Develop better places to live in Hawan County by creating viable communities <br /> with decent houstng and suitable living environments for our people <br /> * Improve and maintain the qualtty and affordability of the existing houstng stock <br /> * Seek sufficient production of new affordable rental and fee-simple houstng in <br /> the County to a variety of sues to satisfactorily accommodate the needs and <br /> desires of families and individuals <br /> * Ensure that houstng is available to all persons regardless of age, sex, marital <br /> status, ethnic background and income <br /> The proposed request would also conform to the following goals and policies of <br /> the Economtc Element <br /> * Provide residents wnh opportunities to improve their qualtty of hfe <br /> * Economtc development and improvement shall be to balance with the phystcal <br /> and social environments of the island of Hawau <br /> * The County of Hawatt shall strive for diversification of its economy by <br /> strengthening existing mdustnes and attracting new endeavors <br /> The Land Use Pattern Allocation Guide (LUPAG) Map component of the <br /> General Plan is a representation of the document's goals and policies to guide the <br /> coordinated growth and development of the County It reflects a graphic depiction of <br /> the phystcal relationship among the various land uses The requested zone change from <br /> Agncultural (A-Sa) to Single Faintly Residential (RS-15) zoned district conforms to the <br /> LUPAG Map, which designates the property as Urban Expansion Area Urban <br /> Expansion Area allows for a mix of high density, medium density, low density, <br /> industrial and/or open designations in areas where new settlements may be desirable, <br /> <br />
