<br /> COUl®T'I°Y O~ ~IAi~V1~I~I S'T'A,TE OF IIA~UI~I~I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE LEASING OF COUNTY LANDS <br /> FOR PASTORAL USE AS SPECIFIED IN THE HAWAII COUNTY <br /> CODE, CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 19. <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 19, Section 2-111, of the Hawaii <br /> County Code provides that the County Council may, by resolution approved <br /> by a majority of its members, dispose of real property by lease, license or <br /> permit; and <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter 2, Article 19 of the Hawaii <br /> County Code, the County Council may authorize the Director of Finance <br /> through auction, sealed bids or negotiation to lease County-owned lands; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the County desires to lease those lands identified in <br /> Exhibit A, herein attached; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii has received inquiries about the use <br /> of these properties on a short-term basis; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Administration has no objection to offering short-term <br /> leases on the former Hamakua Sugar Company lands, now under County <br /> ownership, for the purpose of keeping weeds, grass, and other vegetation <br /> under control. This will be done as a short-term measure until a more <br /> definitive disposition plan for the Hamakua lands is established; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County desires to utilize ashort-term lease of up to <br /> one (1) year for pastoral use with amonth-to-month lease option thereafter; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, if the disposition is performed by negotiation, the public interest <br /> demands it because of the potential fire hazard to the surrounding community. <br /> <br />
