REQUEST: <br /> To authorize Mayor Harry Kim to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding by and between the County of <br /> Hawaii and the Hawaii Community College Rural Development Project in support of the Hawaii County <br /> Resource Center (HCRC). <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The Hawaii County Resource Center, established within the Department of Research and Development for <br /> the purpose of providing technical support and assistance for County agencies and community based <br /> organization in the area of grantwriting. <br /> The Hawaii Community College Rural Development Project receives Federal funding for its program and one <br /> of its goals is to empower rural communities to access and acquire leadership skills and to develop <br /> community capacity building by identifying training and support for economic and business development. <br /> A partnership with the County of Hawaii's Department of Research and Development, in support of its Hawaii <br /> County Resource Center will assist organizations with addressing economic development from a community <br /> based perspective. <br /> The Memorandum of Understanding will provide the County of Hawaii's Department of Research and <br /> Development with needed computer equipment, office furniture, office equipment and supplies for its Hawaii <br /> County Resource Center. <br /> SIGNED: ~~9~~eib DATE: _ 11/7/02 <br /> Department Head <br /> e ~ CK~~ to-n3} Fc.. <br /> <br />
