CD3,__ Cp+ <br /> HONOLULU, HAWAII 98B16d495 <br /> Secy Acct Clk_~ <br /> May 16, 2003 COMMENTS <br /> Honorable Harry Kim <br /> Mayor, County of Hawaii <br /> 25 Aupuni Street <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Dear Mayor Kim: <br /> Memorandum of Agreement for <br /> FY 2003 State Homeland Security Grant Funds <br /> The State of Hawaii has received approval from the Department of Homeland Security, <br /> through the Office for Domestic Preparedness, for the release of State Homeland <br /> Security Grant Program funds. <br /> This grant is a result of congressional funding for the purchase of specialized <br /> equipment to enhance the capability of state and county agencies to prevent and <br /> respond to incidents of terrorism involving the use of chemical, biological, radiological, <br /> nuclear or explosive (CBRNE) weapons. The grant also provides for the protection of <br /> critical infrastructure and prevention of terrorist incidents; for costs related to the design, <br /> development, conduct and evaluation of CBRNE Training Program; and for costs <br /> associated with implementing each state's Homeland Security Strategy. <br /> State Civil Defense has been designated as the recipient of the total allocated grant <br /> funds. Hawaii County is the final recipient of $599,400. The performance period for this <br /> grant is from April 1, 2003 through March 31, 2005. <br /> Funds provided by the grant in the amount of $479,400 can be expended to purchase <br /> personal protective equipment; explosives device mitigation and remediation <br /> equipment; CBRNE search and rescue equipment; interoperable communications <br /> equipment; detection equipment; decontamination equipment; physical security; <br /> enhancement equipment; terrorism incident prevention equipment; CBRNE to ~Lical4 ~ <br /> support equipment; CBRNE incident response vehicles; medical supplies rrnl~fl=d~ 2s~~ <br /> types of pharmaceuticals, and CBRNE reference materials.
