I work for Sun Ind. Inc here on the island of Hawaii and am the project <br />manager. We have been contracted by the local Nissan dealership to install four signs <br />which are the channelized marquee type. <br />While in the process of submitting for a sign permit with the Dept. of Public Works ( Building <br />Division ). It was brought to my attention by Patrick Tanihiro that the proposed sign sizes <br />exceed the allowable dimensions. As directed by Patrick — I would need to request from the <br />County Council a waiver allowing these sign to be installed within this zoning area. During a <br />field visit I have noticed that there are other businesses within this same zoning with signs <br />larger than those we a proposing for future installation. <br />As of date any help that you can provide whether it be rejecting or allowing these signs would <br />highly appreciated. This project is at a standstill and the Nissan dealership is awaiting a reply <br />as to what actions must be taken to resolve this situation. Attached is a copy of the proposed <br />channelized sign dimensions. <br />In closing I would like to thank you for your time involved with this issue.
