Thirty-two (32) Counter-Cannabis Field Operations were <br /> conducted during this grant period. Our personnel also <br /> assisted other law enforcement agencies within the State of <br /> Hawaii in their operations. <br /> A total of 158,138 marijuana plants and 55.6 pounds of <br /> dried processed marijuana were recovered. The following is <br /> a list of some noted events: <br /> a. 4,043 marijuana plots were identified and plants <br /> eradicated. <br /> b. 868 cannabis-related cases were developed. <br /> c. 167 cultivation and 562 cannabis-related arrests, for a <br /> total of 729 arrests made. <br /> d. Investigation of four indoor operations were initiated. <br /> e. Assets, vehicles, currency and real property valued at <br /> $257,000 were seized for forfeiture. <br /> We continue to send our personnel to training such as the <br /> Western States Intelligence Network (WSIN), California <br /> Narcotic Officers Association (CNOA) and other sessions to <br /> remain current on technological and investigative <br /> approaches, as well as keeping up with current issues <br /> regarding marijuana. <br /> Other goal and objective achievements are previously <br /> addressed in the Program Description narrative. <br /> <br /> 3. PROGRAM ACTIVITIES: <br /> We have identified and arrested individuals who were <br /> identified as large-scale cultivators and distributors. <br /> Our efforts have led to inter-agency and multi-jurisdiction <br /> investigations, some of which are pending. Most <br /> investigations entail execution of search warrants. The <br /> following is a list of notable investigations: <br /> a. On March 2, 1996, 94 growing marijuana plants and 22.6 <br /> pounds of marijuana seeds were recovered during the <br /> execution of a search warrant on a residence in Captain <br /> Cook, Kona. <br /> b. On June 21, 1996, 473 cultivated plants were recovered <br /> during the execution of a search warrant at a residence <br /> in Black Sands Subdivision, Puna. The suspect, a <br /> - 2 - <br /> <br />
