KAU: <br /> One new NHW started <br /> Gathered participants and facilitated the process of Hookena-Naalehu Water Master <br /> Plan meetings for County Dept of Water Supply. <br /> Gated a road near Kau High School to prevent late night nuisance. Collaborative <br /> effort with DOE, Parks and Rec and DPW .with volunteers to monitor and lock. <br /> In addition, the CEO project also initiated Resource Team meetings between community <br /> <br /> members and department heads to proactively address community problems. Quarterly meetings <br /> continue to beheld around the island. The CEO together with Community Oriented Prosecutors <br /> developed a Community Cookbook of strategies to address common neighborhood problems. <br /> 24. Among the wide array of federal grants issued by the U.S. Department of Justice. what <br /> criteria and strategic focus guides the Prosecutor's Office in choosing grant programs to <br /> apply for? <br /> In 2001 the Office worked with Jane Larkin to develop our mission and vision. The process <br /> identified three main focuses of the Office -1) Core prosecution and victim services, 2) <br /> improving the criminal justice system and 3) community initiatives to promote crime <br /> prevention through education, collaboration, and strategic planning. <br /> The Office seeks grant programs that support these main focus areas. We have successfully <br /> implemented the following projects: <br /> - Domestic and Family Violence <br /> - Violence Against Children <br /> - Community Empowerment Organization (CEO) <br /> - Community Oriented Prosecution (COP) <br /> - Gun Violence Prosecution <br /> - Domestic Violence Prosecution <br /> - Youth Builders <br /> We are currently working collaboratively to obtain federal Weed and Seed designation for <br /> Pahoa and a Rural Domestic Violence grant. <br /> 25. Does the Prosecuting Attorney's Office assist agencies such as Turning Point for Families, <br /> Bay Clinic and the YWCA in developing grant applications for Violence Against Women <br /> Act (VOWA) and Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding? <br /> Wherever possible the Office collaborates with agencies for potential grant funding. <br /> Through VOCA funding we have supported Turning Point For Families, Mothers Against <br /> Drunk Driving, and Child and Family Services to provide direct services to victims. Through <br /> OJJDP Title V funding we have supported juvenile delinquency prevention programs at the <br /> Lanakila Learning Center and to the Laupahoehoe Community Based Education Learning <br /> <br />
