Curtis Tyler, Member <br /> Public Works and Intergo~me al Relations~o~~m~ mittee <br /> RE: Bill 280, Draft 6 - An Ordinance Amending Chapter 3, of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> By Repealing Article I -Relating to Signs, Adding a New Article I -Relating to <br /> Signs, and Amending Article 2- Relating to Kailua Village Signs <br /> Enclosed for your favorable consideration is Bill 280, Draft 6, which 1 propose Section 3- <br /> 8(a)(I)(A) of Bill 280, Draft 5, be amended as follows: <br /> a. Lines 4-5: t' ° ;b~° salmi rer~ta~er <br /> ° °^'a of theproperty on which the sign is located, <br /> b. Lines 6-9: as long as [soh-a] the sign is not related to or advertising any regular or <br /> ongoing course of commercial enterprise conducted on the property. Only one such sign <br /> shall be permitted to be visible to traffic proceeding in any one direction on any one street <br /> or highway, except that [any-sesk] no sign shall [+aet] be placed over any public right-of- <br /> way or street. <br /> c. Lines 10-12 (added last sentence): A temporary sign can be erected for a period not <br /> to exceed six (61 consecutive months unless a section in this chapter specifies a more <br /> restrictive time period. <br /> The rationale for the proposed amendment is as follows: <br /> a. Lines 4-5: Deletes "content based" wording <br /> h. Lines 6-9: Improves readability <br /> c.
