There has been no provisions for an open
space prt or special accommodations for persons needing convenient access to the shoreline area in
the ooe~ehensive plan to subdivide 1300 acres and four miles of shoreline.
The pir~ion park at PEPEEKEO POINT is the last remnant of the historic Pepeekeo Mill
pladatioacommunity. The Sugaz Industry is of significant historical and cuhural importance to
Hawai ad has cornnbuted substantially to the life of the rural communities. The old camp was
abaodo~od and razed in 1980, yet the old ball pazk and surrounding shoreline open space has
reaoaoadaa important recreation and scenic area. Pepeekeo Point has been used for f skiing,
picoidu~, and ocean viewing activities continuously for generations. Public access to the former
Pepoe~sa S~gaz M~71 and okl camp is recognized in the County of Hawaii Public Shoreline Access
Invr~ogof 1979. The General Plan of 1989 designates the shoreline area as "Q~II: Pazks and
historic saes." The pali is gently sloping and low, malting this the easiest place to access the
shon9eefor a four mile shoreline area within the newly created Pepeekeo Makai subdivision. We

ask for fworabk consideration from the Hawaii Co Counc~7 and a NO VOTE- BILL 356.
y..
~
~ O MILL VII.LAGE CAMP r AU ISCG PEPEEKEO LIGIIT STATION
vase ~v~_~p n~ I addresc ~ J g l r , `t ( Dry X12, email
~ 1 ?o~ ~t ~f~nl -f~
~a, l~nu - lLo„a ~ ~~~noo. coM ,
