2. On August 13 and 14, HCDCH staff will inspect 100% of the units <br /> at Ka Hale Kahalu'u and 5% of the units at Hale Hookipa, <br /> Kaimalino, Kealakehe, and Nani Olu and other developments in the <br /> area managed by Urban Real Estate Company; <br /> 3. Mr. Hee will be attending the August 7 meeting with the residents <br /> and Hawaii County Police; <br /> 4. As the owner of Ka Hale Kahalu'u, HCDCH is responsible for <br /> ensuring that the development provides decent housing and a safe <br /> environment for the residents; <br /> 5. Mr. Bob Hall, Executive Assistant at HCDCH, has been appointed <br /> by Mr. Wes Segawa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of <br /> HCDCH, to ensure that the community concerns are addressed <br /> and resolved; and <br /> 6. "It is necessary and important, therefore, that if the community <br /> believes its concerns are not being addressed adequately or timely <br /> by the on-site management staff, it contact Mr. Hall immediately so <br /> that he can take appropriate action." <br /> <br /> G. August 28, 2002, a meeting was held at the parking lot at Ka Hale <br /> Kahalu'u. Present were the residents of Ka Hale Kahaluu, Community <br /> Policing Officers, Urban Real Estate Company, Bob Hall, Prosecutor's <br /> Office, Jan Marrack, Virginia Isbell, & Wally Lau. The purpose of this <br /> meeting was for HCDCH to inform the residents on what they were <br /> doing, HCDCH's plans for the future, and to obtain input from the <br /> residents. It was agreed that the residents would meet on a separate <br /> date to identify their concerns and feasibility of their requests. <br /> H. Bob Hall responded to the Prosecutor's July 29, 2002 letter in his letter <br /> dated September 5, 2002. HCDCH represented the follcwing: <br /> 1. drug use and dealing is not tolerated in HCDCH projects; <br /> 2. funds exist to provide equipment for neighborhood watch programs <br /> as well as funds from HCDCH Resident Services Section for <br /> physical improvements of projects to prevent crime; <br /> 3. will work with results of police assessment on lighting conditions; <br /> 4. inspection completed on occupied units and findings were <br /> submitted to the agent for repairs; <br /> 5. maintenance staff has begun the process of rehabilitating twenty- <br /> two of the twenty-three vacant units; <br /> 6. managing agent indicates that if all the materials can be acquired, <br /> all the vacant units should be completed by September 30; <br /> 7. placement of new residents is ongoing; <br /> 8. managing agent is in the process of acquiring the services of a pest <br /> control company; <br /> 9. holes have been patched in the exterior of the building to prevent <br /> rodents from entering the building; <br /> 10. HCDCH has no plans to alter the onsite office space; <br /> <br />
