N4. <br /> 4. p`y <br /> ~~ilQr <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> o. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 3E)6 E}~ <br /> RESOLUTION CHANGING THE FUNDING SOURCE AND THE POSITION STATUS <br /> OF TWO (2) DEPUTY PROSECUTING ATTORNEY (TEMPORARY) POSITIONS <br /> UNDER THE DRUG TASK FORCE GRANT PROGRAM <br /> WHEREAS, in 2003, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney was a recipient of an U.S. <br /> Department of Justice's Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grant award, which was <br /> passed through the Hawaii Community Foundation (HCF) as part of the Big Island Meth Initiative; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, these grant funds provided for the establishment of two (2) Deputy Prosecuting <br /> <br /> Attorney (Temporary) positions, one in East Hawaii and one in West Hawaii, for the purpose of <br /> <br /> working with County, State, and Federal law enforcement officials in prosecuting individuals and <br /> <br /> organizations distributing large quantities of ice and other drugs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the creation of these positions was to complement the dedication of the Police <br /> Department's efforts in their enforcement strategy by providing swift prosecution services with <br /> regard to review of warrants, charging decisions, preliminary hearings, grand jury, trial and <br /> <br /> appeals; and <br /> WHEREAS, these deputy prosecuting attorneys, whose work is a key component of law <br /> <br /> enforcement efforts to hold offenders accountable and to curtail future drug activities, have <br /> <br /> successfully worked with county, state, and federal law enforcement officials to expedite <br /> <br /> processing and prosecution of methamphetamine cases; and <br /> WHEREAS, the grant funding for these two (2) Deputy Prosecuting Attorney (Temporary) <br /> <br /> positions, position nos. PA-00024 and PA-00025, will end in May 2006; and <br /> <br />
