Higa, Chairman and <br /> Members of the Hawai'i County Council <br /> Hawai'i County Council <br /> 25 Aupuni Street <br /> Hilo, Hawai'i 96720 <br /> Re: Resolution Changing the Funding Source and Status of Two Deputy Prosecuting Attorney <br /> (Temporary) Positions <br /> <br /> Enclosed is a resolution changing the funding source and position status of two (2) Deputy <br /> Prosecuting Attorney (Temporary) positions participating in the Drug Task Force Grant Program. <br /> In 2003, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney was a recipient of an U.S. Department of Justice's <br /> Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grant award, which was passed through the <br /> Hawai'i Community Foundation (HCF) as part of the Big Island Meth Initiative. These grant funds <br /> provided for the establishment of two (2) Deputy Prosecuting Attorney (Temporary) positions, one <br /> in East Hawai'i and one in West Hawai'i, for the purpose of working with County, State, and <br /> Federal law enforcement officials in prosecuting individuals and organizations distributing large <br /> quantities of ice and other drugs.
