MtV 0! <br /> 4~-L~ <br /> <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> J~ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 322 t36 <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII AUTHORIZING <br /> THE MAYOR TO FORM A LOCAL REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY DESIGNATED <br /> AS THE KUNIEDA ARC LOCAL REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY, AND <br /> REQUESTING THE OFFICE OF ECONOMIC ADJUSTMENT, DEPARTMENT OF <br /> DEFENSE, RECOGNIZE AND DESIGNATE THE KUNIEDA ARC LOCAL <br /> REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY AS THE LOCAL REDEVELOPMENT <br /> AUTHORITY FOR THE SFC MINORU KUNIEDA U.S. ARMY RESERVE CENTER <br /> BASE REALIGNMENT AND CLOSURE. <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII. <br /> WHEREAS, the SFC Minoru Kunieda U.S. Army Reserve Center (Kunieda Reserve <br /> Center) located at 470 W. Lanikaula Street, District of South Hilo, County and State of <br /> Hawaii, has been selected by the Department of Defense as part of the 2005 round of base <br /> realignment and closure (BRAG) due to the anticipated construction of a multicomponent, <br /> multifunctional Armed Forces Reserve Center on the Keaukaha Military Reservation, <br /> District of South Hilo, County and State of Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, while the U.S. Army will determine its surplus needs for this reserve <br /> center on or about May 9, 2006, the Department of Defense, Office of Economic Adjustment, <br /> advises the County of Hawaii to form a local redevelopment authority, pursuant to 32 Code <br /> of Federal Regulation Part 176.5(k), in anticipation of this realignment and closure; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii is the only jurisdiction with zoning authority over <br /> the Kunieda Reserve Center; and <br /> WHEREAS, under applicable base closure regulation, a local redevelopment <br /> authority must be comprised of broad-based community representatives and representatives <br /> ofjurisdictions with zoning authority who, pursuant to 32 CFR Part 175.7(d), will be tasked <br /> with developing a comprehensive redevelopment plan based on local needs and the <br /> exploration of feasible alternatives for the reuse/redevelopment of the Kunieda Reserve <br /> Center; and <br /> <br />
