X24 U6 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION CREATING A CLERK III POSITION FOR THE OFFICE OF THE <br /> <br /> CORPORATION COUNSEL <br /> WHEREAS, the Office of the Corporation Counsel has experienced an overall increase in <br /> legal demands placed upon them in today's litigious climate; and <br /> WHEREAS, this increased responsibility means the support staff has been called upon to <br /> perform additional duties, such as providing secretarial support for boards and commissions, and <br /> to keep up with their daily work duties of the office; and <br /> WHEREAS, with a records management system and a newly implemented document <br /> imaging system operating within their office, they will become more efficient by having a <br /> comprehensive database of legal opinions and an organized repository of all legals documents; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the introduction of the document imaging system has revealed a need for an <br /> increase in clerical personnel to fully utilize the capabilities of the hardware and software of the <br /> system; and <br /> WHEREAS, as the role of Corporation Counsel's legal clerks evolve into more legally <br /> challenging responsibilities, the traditional clerical work must be performed by other clerical <br /> personnel; and <br /> WHEREAS, the creation of a Clerk III position to perform the purely clerical duties will allow <br /> the legal clerks to dedicate their time to non-clerical functions; and <br /> WHEREAS, there are monies available in the Corporation Counsel's Special Counsel & <br /> Settlement of Litigation account, 010.131.5131.10.115, to fund this position; and <br /> <br />
