No. 424-06 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> TIME: 9:42 a.m. <br /> Council Chair Safarik and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 424-06, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 424-06, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication <br /> <br /> No. 1012, dated August 7, 2006, creates a Clerk III position for the Office of the Corporation <br /> Counsel. <br /> The Office of the Corporation Counsel has experienced an overall increase in legal demands <br /> placed upon them due to an increasingly litigious climate. <br /> This increased responsibility means the support staff has also been called upon to perform <br /> additional duties and to keep up with their daily work duties of the office. The introduction of <br /> their document imaging system has revealed a need for an increase in clerical personnel to fully <br /> utilize the capabilities of the hardware and software of the system. Also, as the role of <br /> Corporation Counsel's legal clerks evolves into more legally challenging responsibilities, other <br /> clerical personnel must perform the traditional clerical work.
