Page 10-11, 10.3.1 Introduction And [Aaalysis]Description: <br /> "Fire and Emergency Medical Services <br /> There are presently [14] 20 regular fire stations, [18] 22 volunteer fire stations and <br /> [2] 1 federal fire [stations] station located throughout the island. The County is <br /> proposin¢ a fire station in the Kalaoa-Mauka area. The [Kilauea Military <br /> Camp (KMC) and] Pohakuloa fire [stations aze] station is a federally operated <br /> [facilities] facility. [KMC provides emergency medical services under an <br /> agreement with the County.] The regular fire stations [and three of the volunteer <br /> stations (Laupahoehoe, Pahala, Naalehu)] provide 24-hour fire fighting and <br /> emergency medical services. The Waiakea and Kailua-Kona stations provide <br /> rescue services, the Kaumana [and South Kohala stations provide] station <br /> provides hazardous [waste] materials response and the South Kohala station <br /> provides air medical services." <br /> Rationale: Amendments are updated information from Fire Chief Darryl <br /> Oliveira of the Fire Department. Accordingly, the maps for Public Facilities - <br /> Fire Station Facilities have been amended. <br /> 2. Page 10-14,10.3.2 Policies: <br /> "(i) Maintain [funding of two] an appropriate number and type of emergency <br /> [medical] helicopters, including appropriate aero medical capabilities." <br /> Rationale: Amendment is a recommendation from the Fire Chief Darryl <br /> Oliveira of the Fire Department. <br /> PUBLIC FACILITIES -Health And Sanitation <br /> 3. Page 10-22, 10.5.1 Introduction And [Analysis]Description ,Hospitals and <br /> Related Facilities: <br /> "The County's Fire Department also provides ambulance service from the Captain <br /> Cook, Central, Honokaa, Kailua-Kona, Keaau, [and] Waimea, Kawailani, Pahoa, <br /> Naalehu, Keauhou, South Kohala, North Kohala, Waikoloa, Volcano and <br /> Ocean View Fire Stations.
