<br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE <br /> 1983 (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC, RELATING <br /> TO TEMPORARY CHANGES IN TRAFFIC CONTROLS TO EFFECTUATE <br /> TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENTS. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: <br /> SECTION 1. The purpose of this measure is to amend section 24-11, <br /> temporary changes to effectuate amendments, by authorizing the director of <br /> public works to extend the initial ninety-day period of a temporary traffic control, <br /> for another ninety-day period should a bill to enact an amendment remain <br /> pending beyond the initial ninety-day period. <br /> SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 2, section 24-11, of the Hawaii County <br /> Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), is amended to read as follows: <br /> "Section 24-11. Temporary changes to effectuate amendments. <br /> The director of public works of the County is hereby <br /> empowered to make changes in parking and other traffic controls <br /> for a period of ninety days as a temporary measure to effectuate <br /> the provisions of an amendment to this chapter. The director of <br /> public works may have a single ninety-day extension of this <br /> period if a bill to enact the so effectuated amendment of this <br /> chapter remains pending before the County Council at the end of <br /> the initial ninety-day period Anv additional extensions of time <br /> shall require Council approval." <br /> SECTION 3. Material to be repealed is bracketed. New material is <br /> underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material and <br /> underscoring need not be included. <br /> SECTION 4. If any provision of this ordinance or the application thereof <br /> to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect <br /> other provisions or applications of the ordinance which can be given effect <br /> without the invalid provision or application, and to this end, the provisions of this <br /> ordinance are declared to be severable. <br /> SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval. <br /> <br />
