<br /> -Proposed Amendment to Reno No. 134-07- <br /> <br /> -Page 2- <br /> • Item 3: "Set and monitor traps, [ead] retrieve animals. and conduct field blood <br /> tests for disease control on animals that are successfully trapped in accordance <br /> with guidelines formulated by the County and the United States Department of <br /> Agriculture Wildlife Services [ ] <br /> aid <br /> their <br /> respective agents." <br /> • Item 4: "Formulate a disposition plan for trapped feral pigs, whereby Hawaii <br /> County families are able to utilize them for subsistence purposes upon receipt of <br /> field blood test results stating that the animals for consumption are free from anv <br /> diseases " <br /> • Item 5: "Prepare a written report that shall include, at a minimum, the following <br /> harvest information: date of harvest, location of property, name and address of <br /> property owner, number of feral pigs trapped, field blood test results. and <br /> disposition of animals." <br /> 3. Eighth Whereas Paragraph: "WHEREAS, the Council supports the development of a <br /> one-year pilot program to trap invasive feral pigs in residential and agricultural <br /> communities in Hawaii County by recommending a $100,000 appropriation for the <br /> Department of Research and Developmeait to coordinate with the United States <br /> Department of Agricultrue Wildlife Services to administer this vital program <br /> beginning July 1, 2007 and ending June 30, 2008; and" <br /> 4. Ninth Whereas Paragraph: "WHEREAS, the Council shall designate one of its <br /> members to participate in the fommlation of this one-year pilot program with the <br /> Mayor, Department of Research and Development, and the United States Department <br /> of Agriculture Wil " e Services( now, <br /> therefore,,' <br /> 5. Be It Resolved Paragraph: `BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Mayor, Department of Research and Development, <br /> and designated Council Member are authorized to coordinate with the United States <br /> Dep}utment of Agriculture Wildlife Services [ <br /> ' ] to formulate aone-year pilot program to trap invasive feral pig <br /> populations in residential communities and agricultural farm lots on Hawaii Island; <br /> and" <br /> 6.
