REQUEST: <br /> Request Council's approval to change the source of funding for the Traffic Safety Coordinator position, from <br /> Grant Funded to County Funded. This position (position #4494) was developed to address impaired driving <br /> and the resulting traffic injuries and deaths and is presently funded by the State's Safe Communities Grant. <br /> Due to multiple personnel movements throughout the fiscal year, there should be sufficient funds in the <br /> Department's various Regular Salaries and Wages accounts to fund the needed $30,393.00. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The Police Department was recently informed that the Traffic Safety Coordinator position will no longer be <br /> grant funded. This position has been very successful in developing the Hawaii County Impaired Driving Task <br /> Force, which is comprised of various agency representatives, politicians and public members.
