<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 14. Land Study Bureau's Detailed Land Classification System: Soils within the subject <br /> property are classified as "E" (Very Poor). <br /> <br /> 15. U.S. Soil Survey: The soils are classified as Puu Pa extremely stony very fine sandy <br /> loam (PVD), 6 to 20% slopes. This surface layer is very dark brown extremely stony <br /> <br /> very fine sandy loam about 6 inches thick. The next layer is dark-brown and dark, <br /> yellowish-brown very fine sandy loam about 34 inches thick. It is underlain by <br /> <br /> fragmental Aa lava. The reaction is medium acid to slightly acid in the surface layer <br /> and neutral in the substratum. Permeability is moderately rapid, runoff is medium, and <br /> <br /> the erosion hazard is moderate. These soils are used for pasture. <br /> <br /> 16. FIRM: The subject property is located within Zone X, area determined to be outside: <br /> the 500-year flood plain. <br /> <br /> 17. Flora/Fauna Resources: According to the applicants' environmental report, the <br /> natural vegetation occurring on the property consists of bermudagrass, swollen <br /> <br /> fingergrass, lantana, ilima and cactus. No native fauna was observed on the site. <br /> Common animal species in the area include field mice and mongoose. There are no <br /> <br /> known or recorded rare or endangered animal or plant life in the area. <br /> 18. Archaeological Resources: According to the applicants' environmental report, no <br /> <br /> historic or archaeological sites were present on the parcel. The property has been <br /> extensively graded and used for residential purposes. Therefore, the proposed action <br /> <br /> will not have any effect on significant historic sites. Nevertheless, a condition will be <br /> <br /> included to require the notification of the Planning Department should any <br /> archaeological sites be encountered during the course of development. <br /> <br /> PUBLIC UTILITIES AND SERVICES <br /> 19. Access: Access to the subject property is off Kanehoa Street which has a right-of-way <br /> <br /> width of 50 feet with a 20-foot agricultural standard pavement. Kanehoa Subdivision <br /> has two accesses from Kawaihae Road, one access point ('Ouli Street) serves 16 lots <br /> <br /> and the other access (Kanehoa Street) serves the remaining 10 lots. Kanehoa Street also <br /> connects into Anekona Estates Subdivision which has one access point (Anekona Street) <br /> <br /> from Kawaihae Road. <br /> <br /> -3- <br />
