REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS AND PARKS <br /> DATE: July 22, 1997 RE: COMM. NO. 320 <br /> <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 10:32 a.m. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 320 <br /> and attached Bill No. 89, reports as follows: <br /> The purpose of Bill No. 89 is to amend Chapter 24, article L0, to establish a no-parking zone <br /> along Old Volcano Road in Keaau Village. In addition, Bill No. 89 makes "housekeeping" <br /> amendments by deleting two freight loading sections, sections 24-288 (3) and (4), which can no <br /> longer be located. <br /> Bill No. 89 would amend Chapter 24, article 10, division 5, section 24-280, schedule 28 <br /> (No parking at anytime), subsection (g) Puna, by adding the following item: <br /> Old Volcano Road, in Keaau Village, both sides, beginning at a point eighty-two <br /> feet northeast of Pili Mua Street and extending nine hundred sixty feet in the <br /> northeasterly direction." <br /> Bill No. 89 would also amend Chapter 24, article ] 0, division 5, section 24-283, schedule 31 <br /> (One hour parking areas), subsection (g) Puna, by deleting the following item: <br /> Old Mamalahoa Highway in Keaau, both sides, between the Police Station Road <br /> and Milo Street." <br /> In addition, Bill No. 89 would amend Chapter 24, article 10, division 6, section 24-288, schedule <br /> 36 (Freight loading zones), subsection (g) Puna, by deleting the following items: <br /> "(2) Mamalahoa Highway, makai side, Volcano side of the Olaa to Kapoho Road, <br /> twenty feet. <br /> (3) Olaa to Kapoho Road, Volcano side, makai of Mamalahoa Highway, twenty feet. <br /> (4) Old Volcano Highway, beginning at a point one hundred forty-eight feet north of <br /> Highway 130 and extending twenty-four feet in the northerly direction." <br /> Communication No. 320 is a letter from Chief Engineer Donna Fay K. Kiyosaki, dated <br /> May 19, 1997, which transmits Bill No. 89 to the Council for its consideration. <br /> <br />
