BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> <br /> The State of Hawaii Legislature enacted Act 213, Session Laws of Hawaii 2007, which appropriated funds <br /> for the County of Hawaii to continue its community-based anti-drug education, awareness, and prevention <br /> program. In May 2008, Governor Linda Lingle authorized the release of $200,000. These funds are to be <br /> utilized for providing grants to community organizations and grassroots groups to undertake projects that <br /> promote drug prevention awareness and education.
