Lono has been employed as a <br />professional engineer in the private sector for over 10 years and has recently served as the <br />Landfill Engineer for the Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority, as a Waste Management Engineer <br />for the State of California's Environmental Protection Agency and most recently as the Solid <br />Waste Division Chief for the County of Hawaii. Lono is currently a Principal Engineer employed <br />by an Australian-based international professional services company. <br />EXPERIENCE: <br />International work experience includes: planning, engineering, permitting, procurement and <br />construction management of solid waste and wastewater infrastructure and environmental control <br />systems, including municipal solid waste landfill, transfer station, recycling centre, alternative <br />waste technology, wastewater and groundwater treatment facilities; preparation, implementation <br />and management of solid waste management plans, strategies, and vendor contracts; <br />assessment and remediation of landfills, disposal and co-disposal sites; field supervision of waste <br />management operations, maintenance and rehabilitation personnel; government grant <br />administration and management, regulatory and operational audits of waste management <br />facilities; and preparation of regulatory permit applications and associated permit reports. <br />CAREER HISTORY: <br />^ Principal Engineer for GHD providing specialist advice to the public and private <br />sector on a variety of solid waste and wastewater projects, including waste <br />management strategy development and implementation, solid waste and <br />wastewater facility design, construction, operation and envvonmental <br />management, engineering, procurement and construction management of <br />alternative waste technology infrastructure, and remediation of landfill sites <br />throughout Australia. March 2006 -Present <br />^ Waste Management Advisor to public and private sector waste management <br />industry clients. Provided advise on landfill and transfer station design, <br />permitting, construction, and operations. August 2005 -February 2006 <br />^ Solid Waste Division Chief for the County of Hawaii Department of <br />Environmental Management. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and <br />coordinating County-wide program involving the construction, maintenance, and <br />repair of all solid waste landfills, facilities, and transfer stations, including <br />providing oversight ofthe County's recycling and abandoned vehicle disposal <br />programs.
